Topic description

In this bootcamp topic, students will build foundational knowledge in both the practice and principles of digital art. Working with digital and traditional techniques students will build foundational skills in working with a range of media/technologies to develop their digital artistic focus.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Introduce students to a range of techniques for producing digital works
  • Build the vocabulary needed to critically discuss artistic processes
  • Build a historical context for the creation of future works
  • Provide foundation skills are acquired for the production of polished digital art works
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Employ specific and artistic terms in relation to their work, and the work of others
  2. Describe the exploration of different techniques for the creation of basic work
  3. Produce art on the basis of a provided specification
  4. Demonstrate the application of some of the tools regularly used by practicing digital artists
