Topic description
This topic enables students to undertake an organised study tour to an international location. The details of individual International Study Tours will vary depending on the destination, the timing, the host organisation(s), the number of students, etc. Students can enrol only when they have been accepted for a study tour.
Educational aims
  • gain an appreciation of the cultural of the country (or countries) visited
  • experience the world of a student at an international educational institution
  • to build an understanding of social, political and cultural issues in other countries
  • to increase the understanding and skills needed to operate in a global world.
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of this topic students should be able to:
  • discuss inter-cultural differences between the country (or countries) visited and their own
  • demonstrate an understanding of the skills and attitudes needed to travel and operate in the country (or countries) visited
  • demonstrate awareness of major social and cutural issues relating to the country (or countries) visited
  • demonstrate an increase in intercultural competence
