Topic description
The topic will centre on advanced workshops in scene construction, including designing shots and sequences, blocking for the camera, the use of off-screen space, as well as sound and editing.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • develop the basic production skills established in first year screen production topics

  • to further students' development of the technical skills and production teamwork required in television studio production

  • to develop students' ability to analyse short scripts or excerpts

  • assist students to apply their analytical skills to creative television production
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topics students will demonstrate:

  • an advanced understanding of mise-en-scene

  • the ability to conceive and execute complex scene construction in film

  • an enhanced understanding of the relationship between production and post-production
