Topic description
This topic introduces students to the nature and function of theology. Students will learn the central teachings of the Christian faith, the sources of theology, and theological methodology.
Educational aims
The aims of this topic are to enable students to gain insight into the traditional and contemporary teachings of Christianity in relation to context and practice.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic, students will be expected to be able to:
- Critically examine the methodology and content used by a variety of contemporary approaches to theology
- Compare the interaction .between different theological doctrines
- Establish the influence of context and culture upon doctrinal development
- Examine the impact of doctrine on practice.
