Topic description

This topic requires students to participate in a major dance production. This includes the creation, development and rehearsal of works under the direction of industry choreographers. The process will involve the transference of the work from a rehearsal room to a staging and performance context.

Educational aims

This topic aims to provide students with the opportunity to:

  • Assist in the development of original material for a dance work
  • Use rehearsal techniques and practice to develop a performance
  • Work effectively as part of an ensemble
  • Apply correction and dance techniques to deliver the requirements of live performance
  • Experience performing in front of a live audience
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Research skills in developing content under instruction
  2. The ability to work collaboratively in rehearsal
  3. A continued development of their knowledge of rehearsal techniques and practices
  4. An expansion of their ability to work within an ensemble context
  5. Effective time management when not working directly with the choreographer through all stages in the realisation of the work
