This topic provides opportunities for students to extend their experience working alongside professionals in the field to build upon awareness and professional competencies gained from previous paid or practicum experience. Examination of the role of service provision in the lives of people living with disability and their families continues. Community, education, health and lifestyle provide the context for exploration of practices that support a life of choice for people living with disability with a focus on individual supports and relationships. Students from the Bachelor of Disability and Developmental Education enrolled in this topic are commencing their second Practicum placement.
The aim of this topic is to learn about: Specialised competencies around service provision through working collaboratively with disability professionals to develop and maintain professional relationships with people living with disability, their support network and other professionals. The need for self reflection about services provided and basic research and critical analysis skills.
