Course context

Available to students enrolled in both EDUC2325 and EDUC2425 in the same calendar year.

Topic description

This topic helps to prepare students for entry into the teaching profession. Students will be placed for three one-week blocks or a minimum of 75 hours during their second year professional experiences. They will observe and work alongside registered teachers.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Understand the complex work of the teacher
  • Observe and learn from practising teachers how to effectively interact with children
  • Undertake some of the tasks of the teacher under the supervision and direction of a practicing teacher
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Describe the complex work and roles of the teacher by observing practising teachers at work
  2. Interact with children as a beginning professional
  3. Undertake some supportive tasks by working alongside a teacher at their direction
