STAT2701 Statistical Project

The purpose of the project is for the student to demonstrate the application of the methodology and techniques developed in previous topics(s) in the context of a substantial statistical analysis. As such, it is expected that the project will include: explicit identification of a substantive problem to be solved; data acquisition, entry and verification as appropriate; exploratory data analysis as appropriate; identification and correct application of appropriate statistical models and analyses; the production of a report documenting the project and its conclusions.

The purpose of the project is for the student to demonstrate the application of the methodology and techniques developed in the topic STAT2700 Applied Statistics Laboratory in the context of a substantial statistical analysis.

1. Have acquired experience in identifying the various techniques required
2. Assess the validity of underlying assumptions
3. Have the knowledge to implement analyses using modern statistical computing software
4. Present informed and critical summaries
