Assumed knowledge
This topic assumes completion of an Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts. Students will be expected to be familiar with the practice and theory of the studio in which they complete their study

Topic description
This topic is part of the capstone studio work in the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Arts), and represents a substantial studio experience, in combination with VISA3008B.

Students will prepare a proposal for the development of a body of work in their chosen studio, and develop this, in conjunction with relative research.

Work produced in this topic will be intended for exhibition.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • Provide students with research and development skills, foundational to producing a body of work for exhibition

  • Develop students’ skills in researching, critically analysing, and evaluating their creative works at the developmental stage
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • Critically evaluate art work produced, as described by their proposal, in a formal manner; writing; PowerPoint; artist talk.

  • Critically analyse and evaluate others and own artworks by engaging in critical discussion with their peers using terms and concepts understood from historical and contemporary art practice.

  • Maintain a reflective journal - showing an advanced level of proficiency in exercises, notes and sketches, research and development of personal and technical ideas.
