SCRN3012 has been successfully completed

This topic allows students to conduct a directed reading and viewing project in a particular area of screen production, screen history, media technologies, or screen theory. Students will require the supervision of a Screen staff member to formulate a specific program of study, including a list of films, television and/or digital media to be viewed, and readings to be consulted. The topic will ideally suit a student who has already developed a clearly defined research interest.

This topic aims to:

• introduce students to a comprehensive body of works within a specific area of screen history, criticism or theory

• advance students' comprehension of the historical, theoretical and critical debates pertinent to their chosen area of inquiry

• develop students' abilities to undertake independent research

On completion of this topic students will be able to:

• demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the media productions in their chosen area of study

• analyse the various discursive practices involved in the production of a body of screen work, as well as the critical and theoretical debates associated with them

• independently pursue to completion a planned course of study
