Topic description
This topic allows students to pattern-make and create garments for their graduate range. Students will pattern-make, sample, test fabrics, experiment and complete a selection of outfits from the design project undertaken in Advanced Design and Product Development 3 for their graduate range.Students may choose to create the garments themselves or manage outsourcing of the product development.
Educational aims
This topic aims to give students the opportunity to:
- demonstrate competence in pattern and garment construction, or production management.
- show critical analysis of their own work and problem solving abilities.
- complete a range of garments to a graduate and industry standard meeting required timelines.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of the topic students will be able to
- independently develop fashion ranges to industry or brand requirements.
- Analyse problems in garment design and production to find suitable solutions
- Work within set timeframes to achieve an industry brief
- Produce, or manage the production of, a selection of garments
