Topic description
This topic allows students to pattern-make and create garments for their graduate range. Students will pattern-make, sample, test fabrics, experiment and complete a selection of outfits from the design project undertaken in Advanced Design and Product Development 3 for their graduate range.

Students may choose to create the garments themselves or manage outsourcing of the product development.
Educational aims
This topic aims to give students the opportunity to:

  • demonstrate competence in pattern and garment construction, or production management.

  • show critical analysis of their own work and problem solving abilities.

  • complete a range of garments to a graduate and industry standard meeting required timelines.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of the topic students will be able to

  • independently develop fashion ranges to industry or brand requirements.

  • Analyse problems in garment design and production to find suitable solutions

  • Work within set timeframes to achieve an industry brief

  • Produce, or manage the production of, a selection of garments
