Topic description

This topic comprises one of two capstone topics for students undertaking studio work in one 2D or 3D studio. Creative skills and techniques will be refined from those developed in topics undertaken previously. Students will be given the opportunity to reflect critically on their creative development, and be able to place their practice into a range of contexts, both within and separate to the creative arts, and communicate this knowledge to a range of audiences.

Please note that students will be required to continue in the same studio undertaken in VISA2000 Studio Specialisation A and VISA2001 Studio Specialisation B.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Refine and finesse skills in one studio area studied previously
  • Develop an advanced knowledge of techniques and skills in the chosen studio
  • Develop students' ability to reflect critically on their creative practice, and to identify interconnections between creative practice and other contexts
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Apply design and practical techniques to produce a body of work in their chosen studio
  2. Critically evaluate their own, and others’, creative work, and articulate the role of artist in the community
  3. Document and reflect on the development of their own work
  4. Communicate their creative practice both verbally and in writing
  5. Operate in a safe manner in the studio setting
