Topic description

The topic introduces a working knowledge of the Australian health Care system. We then combine theoretical and practical informatics concepts in the Australian health care system and apply this knowledge to address a health problem.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Enhance understanding of the Australian health care system
  • Develop a detailed knowledge of the contributing factors to health informatics and their application to the Australian health care system
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to able to:

  1. Demonstrate a consolidated knowledge of the Australian health care system
  2. Define the four (4) elements of health informatics: data, information, knowledge, and decisions, and reason as to why they key to the Australian health care system
  3. Apply the four (4) elements of health informatics in addressing a health issue/problem
  4. Evaluate the effectiveness of resolving an identified health issue/problem with the four elements of health informatics
