Topic description
As the capstone topic for the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Enterprise), this topic works to cohere the concepts and learnings across the degree, to prepare students for the unknown and its creative potentials, and to operate as a conceptual pathway to further study or to professional life in the sector. The topic will consider current and future trends in arts, creative enterprise, cultural industries and the broader sector. Assessment includes rich collaboration and mock funding assessment panels to give students experience with the realities of cultural assessment. Other topics include: deploying creative thinking, recognising and being ahead of the curve, the future of work in the cultural industries.
Educational aims
To have students be ready to enter the creative industries workforce with the skills, capabilities and knowledge basis to recognise extant, new and emerging opportunities in the field of culture, creative industries and enterprise. To be able to assess the sector critically and practically.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic, students will be expected to be able to:

  1. Critically assess creative enterprise opportunities and trends
  2. Critically assess creative workflow in case studies connected to global cultural industries
  3. Develop an understanding of their own place in the world of creative industries.
