Assumed knowledge
High standard of personal literacy and basic computer literacy. Design and drawing fundamentals and experience in a variety of visual media.
Topic description
In this topic the emphasis will be on students developing an informed and self-critical approach to art making. Projects will reflect current issues in local and international arts practice.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:
- Provide students with the opportunity to investigate and develop their understanding and skills in a chosen media
- Provide students with the opportunity to develop an understanding of the issues and concepts in the visual arts
- Introduce students to contemporary issues in visual art
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
- Identify issues and concepts in visual art
- Demonstrate the development of their skills in a chosen media
- Demonstrate their ability to critically analyse visual art works using informed criteria
