Topic description

This topic will provide students with practical skills to enable them to facilitate access to arts, sports and leisure activities for diverse populations. Students will gain knowledge and skills related to Human Rights, diversity and inclusive practices across the arts, sports and leisure sectors to enable them to become effective advocates for diverse populations.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Examine the relevance of arts, sports and leisure in promoting quality of life amongst diverse populations
  • Apply practical skills in promoting and advocating for inclusive services, programs and/or facilities to enable all people to participate in arts, sports and leisure events
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Critically evaluate the relevance and benefits of inclusive participation in arts, sports and leisure
  2. Develop recommendations to enable arts, sports and leisure events and facilities to be accessible and inclusive for diverse populations
  3. Develop an innovative organisational and person-centred grant to enhance social inclusion, wellbeing and life experiences of people with a disability
