Topic description
This topic deals with several domains of knowledge and skills that are essential for researchers and practitioners. These are: ethics; research proposals; research design and data analysis; the link between research and clinical practice; and communication skills.
Educational aims
This topic helps to prepare graduates with the research and data analysis skills needed to successfully complete their Honours thesis and aims to:
- Provide knowledge in ethics, research design and methodology
- Provide students with experience designing research
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
- Justify the significance of their chosen research specialisation
- Rationalise different research designs
- Formulate their own research proposal
- Construct an ethics application for health-related research
- Effectively communicate research plans in written/oral format(s)
