Topic description

This topic includes a research project which each student works on under the guidance of an academic supervisor. The research project includes a research question, empirical literature review, data analysis, reporting of results, and a discussion that distils the key take-home messages in light of the research question and implications of the results, and in the context of current theory and/or other relevant research findings. Students may work in groups on shared data sets but will each have a unique research question.

This topic aims to equip students with the skills to:

  • Formulate and justify a research question
  • Identify an appropriate and ethical method of answering the research question
  • Select, use and report appropriate statistical analyses
  • Interpret the results, including their practical or clinical significance where relevant
  • Write a formal research report
