Topic description

This topic assists experienced managers working in the health and aged care sectors to develop a deep understanding of, and ability to critically evaluate, contemporary perspectives on leadership as they relate to enhancing the effectiveness, motivation, commitment and team work of staff working in their organisation. The topic combines experiential, team-based learning, within the student's own organisation with interactive adult learning approaches in workshop settings and on-line activities.

Educational aims

This topic aims to provide students with the knowledge and critical analytical skills to evaluate and implement contemporary perspectives on Leadership of People.

Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to able to:

  1. Appraise contemporary critical perspectives of leading people
  2. Determine appropriate approaches to leading people working in the health and aged care sectors
  3. Recommend approaches for managing staff and team performance using enhanced skills acquired in the course
  4. Evaluate insights into your own leadership behaviour and identify potential areas for further growth and development
  5. Support organisational learning in your own organisation
