Topic description

This topic addresses psychological theory and research in a set of current domains of scientific inquiry. It illustrates the link between knowledge, theory and research, by showing how theory serves to explain human behaviour and experience, the reciprocity of theory and research, and how theories are evaluated and modified. Although the content may vary from year to year, possible domains are social, cross-cultural, lifespan, cognition, emotion, health, and biological psychology.

This topic aims to:

  • Advance students' knowledge of current theory and research in psychology
  • Demonstrate the reciprocal connection between theory and research, and how theory is evaluated
