Topic description

This topic introduces students to production techniques and provides them with opportunities to identify and develop digital stories with an emphasis on short documentary projects. Students will develop the ability to conceptualise, plan and capture short digital stories within a limited time. Students will be exposed to concepts and techniques around digital story telling with opportunities to extend their knowledge while working collaboratively and creatively with their peers on problem-solving.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Introduce students to the basic elements of digital story telling production
  • Introduce students to concept development, directing and producing
  • Provide students with basic camera, lighting and sound recording skills
  • Familiarise students with digital story telling production equipment through assignments and exercises
  • Enable students to complete basic digital story telling production paperwork
  • Enable students to work collaboratively on digital story telling productions
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
