Topic description

This topic furthers student understanding of digital story-telling, providing opportunities to develop editing, sound design and colour grading post-production skills. Students will be exposed to video documentary post-production pathways, with opportunities to extend their knowledge while working collaboratively and creatively with their peers on problem-solving.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Introduce students to the basic elements of digital story telling post-production including editing, sound design and colour grading
  • Introduce students to the basic elements of editing, sound design, colour grading and file management
  • Introduce students to digital post-production equipment through assignments and short production exercises
  • Enable students to prepare, organise and manage the post-production process
  • Enable students to work collaboratively in the post production of a digital story
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Edit stories suited to short video production
  2. Demonstrate basic techniques related to editing, sound design, colour grading and post production pathways and software
  3. Collaborate and create with peers in the post-production of short video documentaries
  4. Synthesise problem solving and post-production skills to complete creative screen productions
  5. Evaluate post-production techniques applied to short video productions
