Assignments; Oral and Tests

In this topic students will focus on contemporary concepts of health management response to major incidents and events. Students will be enabled to apply their knowledge and skills to a range of national and international contexts.

The aim of this topic is to enable students to consolidate and extend their knowledge and skills relating to the health management of major incidents and events.

On completion of this topic students will be able to:

apply the principles of medical management to major incidents / events
critique the components and interrelationships between major incident / event medical management frameworks in local, state and federal jurisdictions
describe ‘special incidents' and analyse their health impact in the medical management of major incidents / events
analyse interactions between local responders, emergency services and government agencies during major incidents / events
critically evaluate media coverage of major incidents / events with particular focus on public response to media messaging.
