Topic description
VFX Modelling focuses on the 3 key elements of advanced rigging, texturing and lighting. Students will learn how to prepare assets for VFX production. Some Maya Embedded Language (Mel) scripting for automated functions will also be covered.
Educational aims
The topic aims to provide students with:

  • experience working both independently and in a team environment to safely prepare assets for VFX production

  • advanced skills in rigging, texturing and lighting for use in VFX asset creation

  • intermediate skills in Maya Embedded Language scripting for automated functions
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to demonstrate:

  • their proficiency in using advanced rigging, texturing and lighting in creating VFX assets.

  • some understanding and practical use of Maya Embedded Language scripting for automated functions in the creation of VFX assets

  • the ability to prepare assets such as rigging, texturing and lighting in a safe and appropriate manner
