Topic description
This topic will provide students with an understanding of the general physiological principles that underpin most disease processes and a more detailed background in a range of specific human diseases. In each case, the pathophysiology will be highlighted.
Educational aims
Students will be able to integrate and transmit their knowledge and understanding of the general physiological principles that underpin most disease processes and apply their detailed knowledge in a range of specific human diseases.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic, students will be expected to be able to:

  1. Integrate and transmit their knowledge and understanding of basic physiological processes that underpin most human diseases
  2. Deduce and explain how pathological changes in specific human organs affect the normal physiology of that organ and the implications for the whole body system.
