Topic description
This topic will enable students to engage in practical skills and develop evidence-based recommendations to enable them to facilitate access to arts, sports and leisure activities for diverse populations. Students will gain knowledge and skills related to Human Rights, diversity and inclusive practices across the arts, sports and leisure sectors to enable them to become effective advocates for diverse populations.
Educational aims
This topic aims to enable students to:
- Critically analyse the relationship between arts, sports & leisure and quality of life amongst diverse populations
- Evaluate, formulate plans and advocate for individuals, services, programs and/or facilities to provide opportunities for inclusive arts, sports and leisure
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
- Critically evaluate the relevance and benefits of inclusive participation in arts, sports and leisure for diverse populations
- Develop evidence-based recommendations and an implementation plan to enable arts, sports and leisure events and facilities to be accessible and inclusive for diverse populations
- Formulate an innovative organisational and person-centred research grant to enhance social inclusion, wellbeing and life experiences of people with a disability
