The topic explores the nature of environmental policy, environmental policy methodology, context of environmental policy, key ingredients on environmental policy development, and tools for environmental policy analysis. The topic aims to prepare students to be able to contribute to the development of environmental policy at the local, state or national levels or in a private company context.

The topics aims to:

  1. Prepare students to contribute to the development of environmental policy at the local, state or national levels or in private industry
  2. Demonstrate the nature and role of 'policy' in sustainable environmental management
  3. Examine the methodologies and tools for environmental policy development
  4. Present some of the key ingredients in environmental policy development such as the role of consultation
  5. Provide the opportunity for students to practice the key skills required in policy developers
