Topic description
In this topic students will research and develop the creative and technical requirements for their Major Production Project. This will include researching and developing a storyline, genre and materials. Students will also develop a project plan and set milestones for the production pipeline.

As part of the project plan students will also have the opportunity to extend their knowledge of the processes associated with securing funding for projects, and promotion and distribution.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • provide students with high-level collaborative skills to successfully develop conceptual ideas for a project pitch as part of the production pipeline

  • extend students’ creative and/or technical skills in the development of complex storylines, and research the appropriate resources to execute them

  • extend students’ knowledge of funding and distribution pathways for creative artists
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to

  • demonstrate high-level knowledge of, and the ability to apply, the concepts, theories and processes involved with the research and development of a digital project

  • demonstrate the cognitive skills to analyse and synthesis information about audience and storyline, and the ability to apply these to the research of genre and materials

  • interpret, analyse and communicate complex creative and/or technical concepts to a broad range of peers, and to clients to pitch a brief

  • demonstrate technical, creative and cognitive skills to investigate and analyse critically production concepts in order to generate solutions to complex problems
