Topic description
This topic represents the late production and post-production stages of the Major Production Project, in conjunction with the topic SCME9305A. Based on the work done in the research and development stages and utilising the feedback from industry professionals, as well as the advanced creative and technical skills developed in the creative workshops, students will work in teams towards producing a minimum three minute industry standard digital project.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • develop advanced creative, technical and theoretical knowledge as part of the creation of a major digital project and apply advanced techniques in digital production

  • require students to work in teams over an extended time to produce a major digital media project

  • require students to work to an industry standard in the production of a major project

  • provide students with the opportunity to develop their own intellectual property
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to

  • demonstrate an advanced knowledge of, and proficiency in, the use of relevant industry software and hardware used in the digital production pipeline

  • demonstrate the ability to apply cutting-edge techniques and knowledge to the creation of new products and new conceptual approaches

  • identify, analyse, and justify their place and purpose in the full production pipeline, and demonstrate their ability to meet complex and interrelated milestones as part of the pipeline

  • work in large and/or complex multidisciplinary teams, whilst being accountable for their own professional and personal contribution

  • demonstrate the ability to apply advanced technical, cognitive, research and creative skills, and knowledge in digital production and entertainment design to independently plan, develop and produce substantial research based film projects

  • demonstrate the ability to create their own intellectual property, including pre-production, production and post-production/marketing
