Topic description

In this topic students will apply artistic and digital principles in a series of practical exercises from a selection of specialised workshops. These activities are designed to build an understanding of the technicalities involved in bridging the gap between the theory of art and its practice in a specific art form.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Provide students with the opportunity to reflect on traditional artistic practices
  • Allow students to produce a series of works demonstrating their understanding of the principles of light and form
  • Build on new and established knowledge of the principles of artistic practice
  • Provide opportunities for students to develop an understanding of the workings of a professional digital studio
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to manipulate lighting, form and shading
  2. Demonstrate appropriate use of vocabulary specific to a digital artist
  3. Demonstrate a progression of practical skills through regular practical exercises
