This topic develops students’ ability to apply professional standards, codes and frameworks in practice.

Educational aims

This topic aims to develop students' clinical reasoning and decision-making skills to communicate and respond effectively in the context of maintaining safety in clinical care.

Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Determine critical thinking and clinical reasoning principles to support decision making for patient centred care in the management of complex health situations across the lifespan
  2. Construct therapeutic and professional communication techniques in line with national quality and safety standards, professional standards and codes
  3. Develop professional and personal responsibilities in regard to interprofessional practice and self-care strategies
