The importance of leadership has become recognised as key to culture change, sustainable practice and quality outcomes for staff delivering and older people receiving health care services. In this topic, students will gain an understanding of building organisational capacity to facilitate innovation, utilising a whole of organisation approach to build and support leadership, the distinction between management and leadership, and the importance of developing a learning culture for ongoing capacity building across all levels of the organisation.
This topic aims to encourage a proactive approach to leadership across care contexts for older people which recognises the impact of leadership on the building of quality care environments, supporting well-being across the organisation and maximises a positive and enabling care culture.
