Topic description

This topic introduces students to current and future directions in creative industries and practices. By using case studies, this topic will teach you to reflect on creativity as an enterprise, and as a human innovation. You will learn to identify creative ways to solve problems, think critically and find your creative practice. By identifying new directions of creative enterprise globally, this topic highlights key concepts and debates in creative industries and markets. Students will develop an understanding of what it means to be creative beyond the boundaries of traditional art forms. Topic themes will include creative interventions for physical and mental health, artificial intelligence, fashion, street art and music across cultures. Engaging these themes we will explore questions, such as: is a creative enterprise always about money, or can/should it be something more? How does modernity influence creative industries and enterprises? How does creativity align with resistance and changing society? By responding to these questions, this topic will introduce students to a range of creative enterprises and provide theoretical and practical foundations to explore and launch their own creative lives.
