This topic is for students who have attained a level equivalent to SACE Continuers OR have completed First year of Italian in the Beginners stream. If you are uncertain as to whether you should enrol in this topic, please contact the topic coordinator.

In this topic students will build on their previously developed knowledge and skills in Italian. Emphasis is placed on oral-aural comprehension, as well as on understanding and use of both spoken and written Italian.

This topic aims to:

review and expand Italian grammatical structures and vocabulary previously acquired
enhance communicative competence through participation in activities involving group or pair interaction
expose students to independent and collaborative learning and to language learning skill development

On completing this topic students will be able to:

use knowledge and skills in Italian phonetics, speech patterns, grammatical structures and idioms developed throughout the semester to communicate orally and in written form on a range of everyday topics using moderately complex language
demonstrate skills in peer interaction and improvisation
