Topic description
In this topic emphasis is placed on extending further students' oral-aural comprehension, as well as their understanding and use of both spoken and written Modern Greek.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • consolidate and expand students' knowledge of Modern Greek grammatical structures, syntax and vocabulary acquired at previous levels

  • assist students to analyse and understand different text types and to produce complex written and spoken texts

  • develop further students' communicative competence through participation in activities involving group or pair interaction

  • develop both aural and oral skills through a variety of activities
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • recognise, reproduce and describe grammatical, syntactic, lexical and phonetic patterns

  • communicate in speech and writing on a range of familiar topics using grammatical, syntactical, lexical and phonetic structures acquired throughout the semester

  • read and discuss authentic written and oral texts of moderate difficulty

  • select, distinguish and understand various genres of text in Modern Greek, and particularly Modern Greek literature
