Topic description

This topic is designed to develop further the students' proficiency in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Classes will cover advanced features of the French language, particularly syntactical and stylistic elements, appropriate with this level.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Develop students' knowledge and ability to understand and use moderately complex French grammatical structures and expand vocabulary
  • Enhance students' communicative competence through participation in activities involving exposure to different kinds of media and group or pair interaction
  • Expose students to independent and collaborative learning and to language learning skill development
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Communicate in speech and writing on a range of familiar topics in French, using moderately complex language to produce simple connected texts
  2. Recognise, reproduce and describe grammatical, syntactical, lexical and phonetic structures of the French language acquired throughout the semester
