This topic provides a development of students' understanding of corporate law regulation in Australia, following the introduction provided in previous topics. Key issues such as directors' duties are covered in this topic as well as day-to-day issues of corporate functioning. Ethical considerations in relation to company operations and the practice of corporate law, as well as the practice of law more generally, also form part of this topic.

This topic aims to:

Increase students' understanding of company law
Raise students' ethical awareness of the practice of company law in Australia

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Have a detailed understanding of the mechanisms by which companies are regulated in Australia

Analyse, and to apply, a range of corporate law concepts in the context of problem situations

Have an awareness of a range of key legal issues affecting company operations, including in relation to directors' duties and insolvency

Detect ethical issues in the context of modern corporate law practice in Australia
