Topic description
This topic gives students the opportunity to apply screen production skills to student devised projects, in a range of documentary and drama genres.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • provide students with the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge, at an advanced level, to a specific genre of screen production

  • require students to develop short film projects as part of a team

  • provide students with the opportunity to develop their understanding of a variety of crew roles in the production of short films

  • provide opportunities for students to identify and solve problems in the production of short films
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • collaboratively identify, analyse and develop solutions for logistical and creative problems in the production of short films

  • manage and schedule a screen production project

  • communicate clearly in a collaborative manner, to organise and participate in crews for a screen production project

  • manage a screen production project, including crew requirements, scheduling, and booking equipment and facilities

  • make creative decisions and solve problems in a limited time span

  • risk assess, generate paperwork and gain permissions for a screen production project
