Topic description

In this topic students will design, conduct and write up a research project in small groups. Students will meet together regularly in their groups and with their supervisor(s) through the semester and will present in groups, the project and its findings in both oral and written forms, towards the end of the semester.

Educational aims

This topic aims for students to:

  • Develop hands-on skills in the design, conduct and write-up of research projects
  • Develop skills in the oral and written presentation of research findings
  • Develop skills in a team-based approach to conducting research
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to undertake a minor research project involving the collection and/or collation of research data, undertake basic analyses of the data and to interpret and to write scientifically about your findings
