Topic description

This topic examines current perspectives in early intervention including child and family-centred planning, processes of identification, models of home-based, centre and school support services, parenting, transition, well-being and professional partnerships.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Introduce current theory and research on principles and practices in early intervention
  • Support the application of research-based knowledge and skills in context
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Identify and analyse models of early intervention and support services
  2. Analyse factors that support or inhibit identification processes, access to early intervention and effectiveness of early intervention services
  3. Design a child and/or family centred individual support program using multiple data sources
