Topic description
In this first semester topic, students consider issues relating to Italian history, culture and society as illustrated in a selection of authentic written, aural and/or visual texts.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • introduce students to past and contemporary cultural and societal issues

  • introduce students to basic textual analysis

  • enhance communicative competence through participation in activities involving group or pair interaction

  • expose students to independent and collaborative learning and to language learning skill development
Expected learning outcomes
On completing this topic students will be able to:

  • communicate in speech and writing on a range of topics related to Italian history, culture and society

  • read, discuss and critique a variety of authentic texts
