Topic description
This topic is designed to develop further the students' proficiency in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Classes will cover advanced features of the Modern Greek language, particularly syntax and stylistics, appropriate with this level. Students will use a produce a range of complex texts in Modern Greek.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • consolidate and expand further students' knowledge of advanced Modern Greek grammar, particularly syntax, styles and registers

  • further enhance learners' communicative competence and collaborative learning skills, through participation in activities involving exposure to a variety of authentic materials and media, and participation in group or pair interaction

  • assist students to analyse and understand different text types, including literary texts, and to produce complex written and spoken texts
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • interpret extended speech in Modern Greek following complex lines of argument

  • participate in extended conversations, with fluency and spontaneity

  • read, interpret, paraphrase and summarise advanced articles, reports and, argumentative texts concerned with contemporary issues

  • produce texts that contain clear descriptions on a range of subjects related to one's field of interest
