Topic description
This topic will introduce students to practical experience in methodical planning for an ethically approved short-term research project, following their introduction to basic methods of research in nutrition and dietetics.
Educational aims
The aim of this topic is to provide practical experience in the design and planning for a research project in nutrition and dietetics, in preparation for the implementation of the project in the sequential topic of NUTD9223.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic, students will be expected to be able to:

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the research planning and preparation processes and the ability to apply this knowledge to the planning, implementation and evaluation of a research project of relevance to nutrition and dietetics, both independently and where appropriate, in collaboration with relevant experts.

  • Introduce the students to project management skills and theory.

  • Document and communicate the research planning process and justify the planned outcomes appropriate for professional and scientific audiences.
