Matthew Flinders Distinguished Professor Tracey Wade has worked as a clinician in the area of eating disorders for 30 years and her current research interests are in the aetiology, prevention and treatment of eating disorders, with a focus on implementing this research into real world settings to improve outcomes in body image and eating disorders. She has cowritten 3 therapy books and has over 200 publications in peer reviewed journals. In 2015 she was elected a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia. In 2016 she was made an Inaugural Honorary Fellow of the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy. In 2017-18 she was the president of the Eating Disorder Research Society, and in 2018-2020 she was a member of the Million Minds Expert Advisory Panel. In 2019 she was appointed Fellow of the APS, and is currently an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Eating Disorders. She is the director of the Flinders University Services for Eating Disorders (FUSED) and the Blackbird Research Initiative. Professor Wade is a member of the National Eating Disorders Collaboration steering committee commissioned by the Federal Government to inform policy development in the area of eating disorder prevention and treatment. From 2019 she has been a member of the Eating Disorders Technical Advisory Committee, advising the Federal Department of Health on matters related to eating disorders.

2000: Ian M Campbell memorial prize for outstanding contribution to the scientific or professional status of Clinical Psychology in Australia; 2003: Australian Psychological Society Early Career Award; 2019: Australia and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders Distinguished Achievement Award; 2020: Academy of Eating Disorders Outstanding Clinician Award for co-authorship of the 2019 book "Brief Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Non-Underweight Patients: CBT-T for Eating Disorders"; 2021: Healthy Development Adelaide Award for achieving excellence in research contributing to healthy development; 2021: Channel 7 Children’s Research Foundation Len Frankham award for outstanding achievement in children’s education and wellbeing research; 2023: Australian Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy Distinguished Career Award; 2023: Vice-Chancellor's Award for Research Leadership. Professor Wade has a NHMRC Investigator grant (2024-2018) which will develop and test transdiagnostic approaches to early intervention for eating disorders in youth.
