Research interests

My research focuses on emotions, in particular on how other persons influence our emotions over and above the emotional stimulus itself.  My projects include collective guilt in Australia; the relationship between guilt and responsibility; functions of expressing guilt; age differences and emotions; fear of unfamiliar people/events; perspective taking and the reduction of stereotypes and prejudice.

1. The importance of perceived respect on social and emotional wellbeing.
2. The importance of perceived trust on social and emotional wellbeing.
3. Commitment to social change for disadvantaged groups in Australia.
4. The role of the media in maintaining stereotypes about groups in Australia.
