Environmental management at the coast, with special reference to Australia, is discussed. Students will also undertake a one-day field trip.
Educational aims
The topic aims are to:

  1. Develop an understanding of diverse coastal processes that give rise to variations in coastal forms in space and time
  2. Provide students with the opportunity to apply the theoretical information about coastal processes and management provided during lectures and seminars
  3. Raise the awareness of students about the effects of the interaction of human activity on the coastal environment and for them to consider the environmental management implications of this interaction
  4. Provide information about the governance arrangements for coastal management in Australia
