Topic description
This topic introduces students to the explanations and debates about the rise of the East Asian economy since 1945. It spans the second half of the 20th Century beginning with the rise of Japan and the 'East Asian Miracle'. It analyses the changing nature of interactions between the region and the United States and the global economy. It ends with contemporary debates over frictions created by trade and monetary imbalances between the region's leading economies and the United States.
