Topic description
Students undertaking this topic must write a supervised dissertation of 10,000 words (maximum). Access to this topic will be determined by the Honours Committee on the basis of:

* a written application submitted by the student, which must contain a topic proposal and nominate a supervisor

* the student's grade-point average and/or their capacity to undertake research; and

* the availability of a supervisor.

Students wishing to undertake this topic and commence study in semester one must submit their

application before the end of November prior to the year in which they wish to undertake the topic. For students wishing to start in semester 2, proposals are due by the end of the second full week in May.
Educational aims
The topic LLAW 4042 Legal Research Paper is a full year LLB elective. It provides students with an opportunity to undertake supervised research and write a dissertation of up to 10,000 words in length.
Expected learning outcomes
Students should be able to write a coherent, structured and original research paper based on primary or secondary research.
