Topic description
The learning focus of Clinical Placement 5 is not specifically limited to musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory or neurological physiotherapy. Rather, it provides opportunities to integrate the above in service settings that include paediatrics and/or rural practice. The student is expected to be able to demonstrate competency in patient assessment, clinical decision making and in physiotherapy program planning, implementation and evaluation of patients with a range of conditions across the lifespan.

The learning focus of Clinical Placement 6 is advanced musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice. If possible students should have some experiences with children and adolescents and older patients. The student is expected to be able to demonstrate competency in: patient assessment; clinical decision making; physiotherapy program planning; implementation and evaluation of patients with complex musculoskeletal/orthopaedic/rheumatological conditions; multiple orthopaedic trauma; spinal problems; chronic disease and health promotion. Clinical learning focus may include specialist areas.

In both placements students will demonstrate considerable autonomy in clinical management.
Educational aims
The aim of this topic is to establish specific knowledge and skills related to physiotherapy for advanced musculoskeletal and community practice.
