Topic description
In this topic students will develop individual pieces of original work, that related to principles of art and design where form and aesthetics are considered equally. Historical reference is applied to the production of these works, to demonstrate the understanding the large arcs, for the conceptualisation of stories.
Educational aims
This topics aims to:

  • allow students to research different tools and techniques that are best suited to the production of a project
  • require students to conceptualise individual pieces within a large historical context
  • provide students with the opportunity to create unique works that logically fit within a broader contexts
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • produce a series of works demonstrating their understanding of the importance of research when undertaking a design
  • apply new and existing knowledge to a series of unique projects
  • describe how their work reflects historical events, both real and imagined
